Dog breeding & inter-breeding is a very controversial topic in today’s world. Dog breeding & inter-breeding has become a very popular topic because of the increase in the popularity of the purchasing of full bred dogs as pets. Dog breeding & inter-breeding is controversial because it consists of breeding a dog with its sibling and/or parent. This is harmful to the offspring of the dog because the offspring has a much higher risk of certain genetic mutations such as heart problems, eyen problems, hearing problems, and hip dysplasia. Because the dogs that are being bred together have a lot of genes already in common with one another the gene pool for the offspring to come from is much smaller, increasing the chance that bad genes are passed on. Besides being genetically bad for dogs, dog breeding & inter-breeding is also distasteful to people for the same reasons incest in humans is distasteful. The idea of immediate families, of any kind of species, breeding with each other is usually very disgusting to most people. Thus, dog breeding & inter-breeding is very disgusting to many people. In fact, many people consider dog breeding & inter-breeding to be animal cruelty for these very reasons. Because of the greater increase in genetic problems, dog breeding & inter-breeding is outlawed by the American Kennel Association. Any dog produced by dog breeding & inter-breeding can not receive qualifying papers for dog shows, etc. This outlawing of dog breeding & inter-breeding has greatly decreased those breeders who still use it as a way to breed dogs. Today, most dog breeders try to protect their dogs’ lineage as best as they can. They fully inspect any potential mates’ lineage to ensure that no dog breeding & inter-breeding occurs. Besides protecting their own puppies from genetic mutations, this also ensures that any dogs they produce in their breeding unions are able to be show dogs. Oftentimes breeders will keep the best puppies out of their litters in hopes that these dogs will grow up to be show dogs or at least good breeders of their own. If these puppies were created through dog breeding & inter-breeding, however, there is no chance of this. If you are thinking of purchasing a full bred puppy from a dog breeder, ask to view the lineage of both parents to ensure that your puppy was not produced through dog breeding & inter-breeding. This will help ensure your puppy’s lineage if you desire it to be show dog or a breeder, as well as protect it from any unwanted health problems.
