Breeding dog process
The breeding dog process is a very straight forward process. The breeding dog process starts out with a breeder who owns a female dog in heat making a deal with a male dog owner to mate the two animals. Usually this agreement takes a few weeks for both parties to agree to. Most breeders will ask to see the other dog’s lineage and papers to ensure that the dog is a full bred dog as well as to ensure that no accidental inter breeding will occur. Once the agreement is signed, the male dog owner will usually bring his or her dog to the female dog owner’s location and the mating will occur on the female dog owner’s property. For the most part, no human intervention is necessary for this step in the breeding dog process. Mother Nature runs its course and the two dogs will usually mate without any kind of coercion. Usually the male dog owner will simply get a “stud” fee and the female dog owner will get the proceeds from selling the puppies that his or her female dog will birth. After the actual mating part of breeding dog process is over, the male dog is out of the picture. The gestation period of most dogs is about sixty three days and it is the female dog owner’s responsibility to care for his or her pregnant dog during this time. This care includes taking the dog to regular veterinary check ups, as well as making sure the mother dog is nourished properly. Sometimes the male dog owner will want some of the proceeds from the puppies that the female dog will birth. If this is the case, and both breeders agreed to this, then usually the male dog owner will help to care for the pregnant female dog during this step in the breeding dog process. Usually this simply means providing some monetary support for this step in the breeding dog process. The next step in the breeding dog process is birthing the puppies. After the birthing of the puppies, the puppies must be cared for during their first four to six weeks of life. The next step in the breeding dog process is weaning the puppies from their mother’s milk to regular puppy food. This step usually takes a week or two and occurs when the puppies are about four weeks old. After the puppies are weaned and have had all of their first veterinary checkups and shots, they are ready for the final step in the breeding dog process: selling the puppies.
